Honesty before persuasion
Is Temple Within for you?
Alignment
We would rather you self-select out.
A group of fifteen to twenty people is a delicate thing. The right people make it extraordinary; one person in the wrong retreat makes it hard for everyone, including themselves. So read both lists honestly.
This may be for you if
- You want wellness without being confined to a traditional yoga retreat.
- You love travel and exploration.
- You want meaningful connection without forced intimacy.
- You enjoy both adventure and spaciousness.
- You are curious about embodiment and self-exploration.
- You want to experience Egypt beyond conventional tourism.
- You want a small, intimate group.
- You're comfortable with an intentional group environment.
- You want both structured experiences and time completely your own.
This may not be for you if
- You want a luxury resort vacation with no group activities.
- You dislike movement, reflection or group experiences.
- You want a highly rigid itinerary.
- You are looking for a conventional sightseeing tour.
- You don't enjoy adventure or changing environments.
None of these make you wrong. They just make this the wrong ten days.

Small-group experiences
Desert vehicles and circles, not tour buses.

Intimate atmosphere
One venue in an oasis, held for us.
Questions
Everything
worth asking
If something you need to know isn't answered here, ask before you pay a deposit.
People who want wellness and adventure in the same trip. You don't need to be a yogi, a meditator or a seasoned traveller. You do need to be willing to be part of a group, to try things, and to let some hours stay unplanned.
An intentionally intimate group of 15–20 guests, held by five facilitators.
In Giza you stay close enough to the plateau to see it from the roof. In Siwa the retreat venue is built from local mud-brick and palm, with a pool, shaded gathering spaces, practice space and the oasis directly around it. Shared and private rooms are both available.
Once you are in Egypt, it is handled: accommodation, meals as outlined, all ground transport, every scheduled excursion and entrance, all wellness practices and ceremonies, and the overnight transport to and from Siwa. Flights, visa, insurance, tips, personal purchases, 1:1 sessions and optional add-ons are not included.
No. You book your own international flights into and out of Cairo. We will tell you exactly which arrival and departure windows to aim for.
About 8 hours by road, with a couple of breaks along the way, and every mile of it is worth it. Cairo falls away, the desert opens up, and you arrive somewhere few travellers ever reach. Rest, music, conversation, stars through the window: it's a gentle way of leaving ordinary life behind. On November 7 we leave Cairo at 4 PM, and on November 14 we leave Siwa between 8 and 9 PM.
Most likely, but it isn't guaranteed. Signal in the oasis can be patchy depending on your provider, and the resort has Wi-Fi, though it may not reach every room. We see that as a gift: fewer notifications, more presence. Let loved ones know before you go, then enjoy being properly offline for a while. It makes the whole experience richer.
Yes. Travel insurance covering medical care and trip cancellation is required for all guests, and is not included in the price.
Moderate. You should be comfortable walking on sand and uneven ground, and being out in warm daylight. The sunrise mountain hike and cold-water sessions are always optional, and every practice can be adapted.
Most guests do. A shared room is matched with another solo guest of the same gender unless you request a private room.
No. Nothing is mandatory. Practices and ceremonies are offered, not required — you can step out, sit at the edge, or sleep instead.
Several hours most days, and a great deal more on the arrival and desert days. Free time is part of the design rather than a gap in it.
Just let us know. Tell us on arrival and the photographer will not take solo photos of you, for the whole retreat. Consent is checked, not assumed.
Guests must be 18 or over. There's no upper age limit, but you should be in good health and happy to come along for the ride: warm days, some walking on sand and uneven ground, an 8-hour road journey and a desert safari. If you have a health condition or limited mobility, tell us before you reserve and we'll talk it through honestly.
Sadly not. Pets can't join this journey, so your furry friends will have to wait for the stories.
Egypt moves at its own gentle pace. Now and then a transfer runs late, a meal takes longer, or a plan shifts on the day. We ask everyone to meet these moments with patience, flexibility and a sense of humour. Letting go of the clock is part of the journey.
Light breathable layers, something warm for desert nights and the overnight drives, swimwear, a scarf or light cover for cultural sites, sun protection, sturdy sandals plus one closed shoe, a refillable bottle, a journal, and any medication you need. A full list is sent after you reserve.
November is the kindest month in Egypt. Warm, dry days — roughly the mid-20s to low-30s Celsius — and genuinely cool desert nights. Bring a layer.
Some of it probably will. Weather, logistics, local conditions and the group's own energy all get a vote. The listed experiences represent the intended offerings and rhythm; the facilitation team adjusts the order and pacing to serve the group.
A $500 non-refundable deposit reserves your place. Once received, it locks in the pricing tier you booked under, even if the tier closes afterwards. The remaining balance is due October 3.
The $500 deposit is non-refundable in all cases. If you cancel after paying your balance, we will do our best to resell your place; where that is possible, your balance is refunded minus the deposit and any unrecoverable costs. This is why travel insurance is required.
You receive confirmation, a detailed pre-departure guide with the full packing list, flight and arrival windows, visa guidance, a health and needs form, and an introduction to the group and facilitators ahead of November.
Most nationalities need a tourist visa for Egypt, available on arrival at Cairo airport or in advance as an e-visa. Your visa is your responsibility; we send guidance and can answer questions.
Arrival and departure transfers between Cairo airport and the retreat are included. Once we have your flight details, someone will be waiting for you with your name.
